"THE ORCHESTRA ROCKS!"
FEBRUARY 25, 2018 at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium
Family Concert for audience members of all ages
FAMILY CONCERT
One universal element of music is rhythm. Composers and musicians play with elements of musical time, creating patterns of sound and silence that are expressive and exciting. A consistent groove can unite musicians, singers, and audiences in an experience of listening and performing together. Through the LinkUp repertoire, hands-on activities, and a culminating interactive performance with a professional orchestra, we will discover how "the orchestra rocks!" The concert will last about one hour and will be followed by the Instrument Petting Zoo where children of all ages can try instruments and talk to our musicians.
The Santa Cruz Symphony will be joined by the Santa Cruz County Youth Symphony directed by Nathaniel Berman, Cabrillo Youth Chorus directed by Cheryl Anderson, Kuumbwa Jazz Honor Band directed by Terrel Eaton, Santa Cruz Ballet Theatre directed by Robert Kelley, and the Santa Cruz High Drumline directed by Christina T. Latham. Narrators are Jeff Gallagher and Isabella Negrete.
