Renew your season subscription today!

If you’re a current subscriber, now is the time to renew for Santa Cruz Symphony's 2024-25 season. And with good reason! Once again, we were voted the Best Classical Music Group in Santa Cruz County. Plus, our attendance has increased, which means that the best seats are in greater demand.

Renewal forms were mailed on May 15. To renew your seats, mail in your completed subscription form and payment before June 30, 2024. After that date, your unclaimed seats will be opened for others who may request them. Note that seat change requests by current subscribers will be honored before we begin offering those seats to new subscribers. Want to order online instead? You can do so at santacruzsymphony.org/how-to-order.

Now is the perfect time to experience what classical music is today – a living, evolving art form. Our dynamic upcoming season will explore both traditional and modern realms, with music from Mozart, Brahms, Korngold, Tchaikovsky, and more. We’ll even hear a composition by Björk!

If you’re not a current season ticket holder, you can place a subscription order online anytime. We’ll begin assigning new subscriber seats in mid-July after the existing subscribers have renewed. Submitting your order earlier will place you higher on the list, so act now!

Many valuable benefits come with each season subscription. For example, you will have the same reserved seats all year long. And you'll have first choice with next year's renewal. Subscribers also provide stable financial support for Santa Cruz Symphony, allowing us to design our programming with confidence. Learn more about your benefits here.

URGENT! Ask Your Legislators to Oppose a Massive, Disproportionate Cut to Arts!

Governor Newsom is proposing a 58% CUT to arts program funding in 24-25 May revise of California budget. The $10 million cut to the California Arts Council represents a greater than 38% reduction to its $26 million grants budget, a base level that has not increased in more than 7 years. The proposal would reduce funding to the same level as 1989-1990 without adjusting for inflation, while the general fund has more than doubled. This cut would put California 45th in the United States for per capita funding for the arts.

The proposed cuts also include a total sweep of the $12.5 million for SB 1116, the performing arts equitable payroll fund which is not a new program but repurposed funds from the live venues and nonprofit performing arts grants program to aid in jobs creation, thriving wages, and stability for small budget nonprofit performing arts organizations. Reducing both of these funds would have a devastating impact on a sector that is desperately trying to recover, and would specifically impact rural communities, communities of color, and small budget nonprofits.

For too long, California’s artists, tradition bearers, and cultural organizations have carried the weight of the state’s preeminence as a cultural producer and creative economy on their shoulders alone, without adequate sustained public investment. We urge you to OPPOSE these cuts and tell the Legislature to reject these proposals. Senator Portantino and Assemblymember Mike Gipson have been the lead champions in the Legislature opposing these cuts, but they need to know we are with them.
