Our opening Recital in our new Spotlight on the Symphony Recital Series will feature Santa Cruz Symphony's principal harp, Madeline Jarzembak.  She will be joined by Santa Cruz Symphony's principal cello, Jonah Kim, and violinist Rebecca Jackson, founder of Music in May.

An intoxicating survey of La Belle Époque, our second program of the season features music from a Russian in Paris, with Stravinsky's revolutionary Le Sacre du printemps (The Rite of Spring); an American in Paris, with Gershwin's jazzy An American in Paris; and a Parisian in Paris, with Debussy's exquisite Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune (Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun).

Spotlight on the Symphony Recital 2

Brass Over Bridges is a San Francisco-based Brass Quintet comprised of performers and educators, all of whom have performed with the Santa Cruz Symphony.

This recital will feature an American Theme with works by composers Aaron Copland, George Gershwin, Glenn Miller and Leonard Bernstein. This is a great opportunity to experience the wide range of sounds and styles possible with brass instruments.

The Santa Cruz Symphony is proud to present a World Premiere commission from acclaimed local composer John Wineglass in a new work featuring legendary electric bass master Victor Wooten.

Young virtuoso Jeremey Tai, the most recent Klein International Competition grand prize winner, will perform Tchaikovsky's elegant Variations on a Rococo Theme.

Mozart's majestic Symphony No. 39 anchors this third program of the season.

Beethoven's breathtakingly beautiful Mass in C is a rarely performed gem, and will feature a quartet of Metropolitan Opera Stars, as well as the beloved Cabrillo Symphonic Chorus.

Our final program of the season begins with Esa-Pekka Salonen's endlessly inventive Karawane (2014), a riotously playful oratorio for chorus and orchestra, based on a poem of the same title by Dada founder Hugo Ball.
