Caitlyn Smith-Franklin

Caitlyn Smith-Franklin, a native of the Chicago area, is a Bay Area freelancer and teacher. Caitlyn has been the Principal Horn of the Stockton Symphony since 2013. She also holds the position of Utility Horn with the Santa Rosa Symphony and 2nd Horn with the Santa Cruz Symphony. While studying at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Robert Ward of the San Francisco Symphony, Caitlyn also won two regional orchestra positions in 2010: 2nd Horn in the Monterey Symphony and 4th horn in the Fort Collins Symphony (CO). With a very active freelance orchestral career, Caitlyn performs regularly with numerous Bay Area orchestras including the San Francisco Symphony, Opera San Jose, the Marin Symphony, Oakland East Bay Symphony, Symphony Silicon Valley, the Fresno Philharmonic, the Napa Valley Symphony, Merced Symphony, Fremont Symphony, the SF Academy Orchestra, and the Magik*Magik Orchestra. In addition to her freelance work, Caitlyn maintains a small teaching studio and also enjoys playing woodwind chamber music.
During the summers, Caitlyn has also performed with the National Repertory Orchestra, at the Music Academy of the West, the Aspen Music Festival and School, the Brevard Music Center, the Pierre Monteux School for Conductors and Orchestral Musicians, and the Symphony Orchestra Academy of the Pacific.
Caitlyn holds Bachelor’s degrees in music (horn performance) and biology, graduating summa cum laude from the University of Miami in 2008. Subsequently, she earned her Master of Music degree in horn performance in 2011 and her Professional Studies Diploma in 2012, both from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

Anthony Delivanis

Anthony Delivanis is a horn player who joined the Santa Cruz Symphony as Second Horn in February 2025. Originally from Mountain View, Anthony attended Mountain View High School and studied music under the instruction of Robin Kramer and Jason Kneebone. He received his undergraduate degree in horn performance at the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California and later attended the New World Symphony as a horn fellow under Michael Tilson Thomas. Anthony has performed with various orchestras in the United States including the San Francisco Opera, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Mobile Symphony, and other orchestras in the San Francisco Bay Area such as the Santa Cruz Symphony, Santa Rosa Symphony, and Opera San Jose. In September 2011, Anthony participated in the International Horn Competition of America and was awarded Second Prize in the professional division. He also participated in the 2008 California Youth Symphony concerto competition and was a winner of their Associate Orchestra category. Anthony has studied horn with James Thatcher, Julie Landsman, Kevin Rivard, Steven Becknell, and Daniel Wood. He is grateful to his teachers for sharing their guidance and advice and is grateful as well to Vivian McNulty, who convinced him to switch from trumpet to the french horn in seventh grade.

CRAIG HANSEN

Craig Hansen is a horn player based in San Francisco, CA. In February 2025, he joined the Santa Cruz Symphony as Fourth Horn. Since 2014, he has been a regular substitute with the San Francisco Symphony and performs widely with Bay Area ensembles including the Berkeley, Oakland, California, and Santa Rosa Symphonies. Hansen has held multiple orchestral positions including principal horn of Orquesta Filharmónica de Jalisco and acting utility horn at the Britt Festival.
Hansen holds degrees from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (M.M.) and the University of Denver (B.M.), where he studied with Robert Ward and Susan McCullough, with additional studies under David Pyatt at London’s Guildhall School. He has performed at major festivals including the Pacific Music Festival, Aspen Music Festival, Kent/Blossom, and the International Mendelssohn Festival, working with teachers such as Sarah Willis, William Caballero, Richard King, and Ab Koster.
