Arts Council of Santa Cruz County reports that over 50% of arts education programs in the schools in Santa Cruz County are music programs. The top three providers of arts education are the schools, Arts Council and the Santa Cruz Symphony.

A New York Metropolitan Opera singer transformed his life from a troubled child to an international star. Prior to performing with the Santa Cruz Symphony, he visited Santa Cruz County Juvenile Hall.
